Shaikh Khalifa Bin Salman & Shaikh Isa Bin Salman Highway - Widening & Improvement of Intersection of Highway, Bahrain
SKBS Highway is one of the most important strategic arterial roads of the Kingdom of Bahrain that offers connectivity between Manama, Hamad Town and the Southern Governorate. SKBS Highway currently has 3 lane dual carriageway configuration and consists of grade separators / interchanges at all the major junctions that offer uninterrupted flow along the priority north – south movements of the highway. The goal of the overall project is to widen and improve the overall highway, improve existing interchanges and provide new interchanges as necessary to augment capacity, relieve congestion, resolve accessibility and connectivity issues and to adequately cater to existing and future traffic demands for up to 2030. The project stretch is about 23.5km with an overall 12 junctions.
The Package I scope refers to the rehabilitation of SAAR interchange and construction of a new left turn flyover.
Total road length 5,100m including widening of the existing carriageway to 4 lanes, milling and re-profiling of existing and provision of shoulders.
Bridge length approximately 800m, width of section 13.45m carrying 2 lanes of 3.75m each, an outer shoulder of 3m and an inner shoulder of 1.96m. The bridge will be built with the incremental launching construction method.
